Provide interpreting and transliterating services for Deaf and hearing consumers in the Post Secondary Education environment, facilitating communication through the use of American Sign Language, signed and spoken English, cultural mediation, and knowledge of visual accessibility.

Work independently in a variety of educational settings, including classrooms, labs, shops, field trips, assemblies, counseling sessions, club meetings, extracurricular activities, and other social and academic settings. 

 

Develop and provide Professional Development seminars, workshops, and semester-long courses for colleagues. Courses provided include Astronomy, Building an ePortfolio, ePortfolio CRASH, and Nerd Life 101 (in development).

 

Serve as a mentor for Apprentice and Student interpreters, teaming classes with mentees, meeting weekly or bi-weekly to evaluate status, review work, and plan for future classes.

Develop and present yearly training and in-service meetings for teachers and staff prior to the start of each school year. Collaborate regularly with co-workers to ensure the best possible flow of communication and provide the most accessible environment for students.
